What is the Walkathon?
The Cherry Crest PTSA has two main fundraisers: Walkathon in the fall and the auction in the spring. The Walkathon funds the bulk of the PTSA’s working budget for the year. Students collect donations for the event, and then walk laps around the course. It is as much a community-building event as a fundraiser. We hope to see all kids and their families at the event.
 
Where and when is the Walkathon?
Walkathon is Friday, September 29th. Students will walk the school track at lunch recess and then again from 2:30-3:45 pm (if their schedule permits). All students must have a signed permission slip to participate, due by Sept 22nd. There will also be a dinner following the Walkathon beginning at 4 pm.
 
Who watches my kid after school?
You are responsible for your kid after school. Each student requires a signed permission slip before they can participate. Click here to complete online permission slip. Click here to download a paper permission slip to turn in to your teacher.

How is the lap system different this year?
This year students will work together with their classmates to walk towards the lap goal for their grade (yes, this is a change from years past). In the spirit of the theme – Come Together – students will be working together with their class and grade to meet a lap goal together. The goal is to get 75% of students from a grade to reach their lap goals. Grades that reach their goal will earn an extra recess! The class that gets the most students to reach the goal gets to slime the principal!

How do the awards work?
Lap Awards will be given by class and by grade.

  • Any grade that has 75% of the students meet their lap goal will win an extra recess!
  • The Big Foot award (plaque) will be awarded to the class who has the highest percent of students that meet their lap goals. And this class will get to slime the principal. Yes, actual slime will be used.

Fundraising Awards are going to be given out this year to the individual students that raises the most money:

  • 1st – Fit Bit
  • 2nd – $20 Menchies gift card
  • 3rd – $15 Menchies gift card

To be counted towards the fundraising goal for an award, donations must be in by the October 6 deadline.

What is the suggested donation goal?
Suggested pledge donation goal is $150 per child. Our fundraising goal for this event is $50,000! Click here to donate
 
What Food trucks will be there?

What activities will there be after the walk-a-thon?
Plans are still being made, but think face painting, balloon animals, selfie station, pitching machine, visits from firemen and police men, and hopefully more! There will even be activities geared to the younger siblings in our Toddler Zone!

What if it rains on Walkathon day?
We walk rain or shine, so please be sure to send your student(s) in the appropriate clothing and shoes - including rain gear.
 
Do the kids get refreshments?
Healthy snacks and water will be provided to all students during the Walkathon.

Are pets allowed?
No. Pets are not allowed.
