News from the Cherry Crest Library

If you have some free time, library volunteers are needed in the following classes:

  • K - Lawlor, Cody, DePaola
  • 1st - Hayfield, Alcorn, Applegate
  • 2nd - Waddell, Elms
  • 3rd - Tamayo
  • 5th - Jessa, Hemker

You do not need to have a student in the class to help out with that classroom. If you have extra time at Cherry Crest you are welcome to stop by the library to help shelve, check in books, or organize at any time during the day. It is helpful to have more than one volunteer available per classroom in case someone cannot come due to travel or illness. Please remember to sign up online so others know if a spot is truly filled or not. Thank you so much for your valuable time.

If you are a trained library volunteer we can use your help in these classes, please sign up here.

If you would like to become a trained volunteer, please contact our library volunteer coordinator at: libraryvolunteer@cherrycrest-ptsa.org

We are still collect empty Kleenex/tissue boxes for the library, please continue to send them in as you use them up. Thank you.

Lastly, if you or your organization has mouse pads to donate, we could use 24 for the desktop computers in the library at Cherry Crest. Thank you in advance for the consideration.

Multilingual Principal Coffee on November 20th

At Cherry Crest we strongly believe in building a strong comm(UNITY). If you are one of our many families that is multilingual, we invite you to join us for coffee with other families and hear from our Principal, Dusty Steere.

When: Monday, November 20th, 8:15am – 9:15am

Where: Cherry Crest Café

This first meeting will focus on how we can support you at Cherry Crest and how important systems work to support your child. The majority of the time will be dedicated to an informal question and answer session.

Our goal is to make this coffee valuable and informative. In order to make that happen, we NEED parent input in the planning of the coffee. What topics and what types of questions would be most interesting to parents? If you are available and would like to be involved with the planning and content of the coffee, please email Jennifer Rivera at riveraj@bsd405.org for more details.

Cherry Crest Choir for 4th and 5th Graders

Welcome to 2017-2018 school year and another opportunity to make music with the Cherry Crest Elementary Choir! This is a non-audition singing group that meets Mondays after school from 2:35 to 3:20 in the music room.

Rehearsals will begin on Monday, October 23rd and run through the month of May (exact date TBD).

The Cherry Crest Choir is open to any 4th or 5th grade student who is interested in singing with a group, improving their singing skills, and having a great time expressing themselves through many different types of vocal music. There will be performances throughout the year in assemblies, concerts, and other performance opportunities. If you're interested, fill out the registration form and bring to Mr. Panther.

Questions? Contact Mr. Panther panthers@bsd405.org.

Art Room Volunteers Needed

There are many opportunities to help in the art room this year. As well as assisting during class time, volunteers are also needed for preparation of materials, and putting up finished artwork in the hallways. In addition to your child's scheduled art time, please consider signing up for a time when the Kindergarten or 1st grade classrooms are in the art room. We greatly welcome the extra help for the younger children, but all help is appreciated and gives Ms. Jessica more time to focus on the kids.
